The RD7 CR-Vs are powered by a K24 2.4L iVTEC 4cyl DOHC engine (identical to the Canadian cars), paired to a 5sp automatic gearbox predominantly driving the front wheels. A loss of traction is detected as a pressure change in the dual pump rear diff which quickly engages the rear axles for 4WD. All of this is identical to the Canadian models making the Japanese CRVs easily serviceable here.
